A THREE-year-old girl remains in hospital with serious injuries following a crash in Llangefni.

This happened in Pencraig at about 4.50pm on Sunday, June 7.

North Wales Police were called to a report of a crash, involving a black coloured Ford Focus, and a child. The driver had left the scene on foot.

The child was airlifted to Alder Hey Hospital in Liverpool by the Air Ambulance with head injuries.

Officers immediately commenced a search and the driver, a 19-year-old man from the local area, was found in Llangefni Town Centre a short while later where he was arrested and taken to custody.

Sergeant Meurig Jones of the Roads Policing Unit said: “We are appealing for anybody who may have seen the car being driven prior to the collision, or to anybody who witnessed the incident itself and is yet to speak to us, to contact us immediately.

“The child remains in hospital in Liverpool however her injuries, thankfully, are not believed to be life threatening.

“The 19-year-old man who was arrested on suspicion of numerous driving offences including drug driving, failing to stop and driving without a licence or insurance has been released pending further investigation.”
