RHUDDLAN Town’s firepower led the Vale of Clwyd and Conwy League scoring charts on their way to a championship win.

Wayne Hughes’ side were formally given the crown by officials after the Football Association of Wales curtailed the domestic season due to the coronavirus pandemic. This was awarded on a points per game system and saw Town triumph over Llanfairfechan Town and Llansannan.

This was down in no small part to the goalscoring efforts of Jay Whitehouse, who was in ruthless mood throughout the campaign to find the net on 22 occasions.

Whitehouse eventually finished atop the top scorer charts as a result of his exceptional efforts, and he was closely behind in the standings by teammate Matty Rees.

The influential figure was at the top of his game for the eventual champions during a memorable campaign, and his 16 goals were enough to earn runners-up position in the standings.

Plans are already gathering pace for next season, with Hughes confirming that former club captain Keiran Evans will stay on in a coaching capacity after impressing considerable in the role last term.

The Town boss, said: “I am thrilled that Keiron will be staying on with myself and hopefully one more member of management to come on board with us.

“It’s looking like we will be retaining a massive part of the playing squad with only a few lads departing.

“We really can’t wait to get going again and possibly seeing some new faces coming in ready for a new challenge.”

The club also confirmed the signing of Jake Parry earlier this week.
