WALES’ largest bowling club has been targeted by vandals.

Three bowling greens and a wooden bench have been damaged in two separate incidents during the last two weeks at Llandrindod Wells Bowling Club.

The club has issued a plea to the people of Llandrindod Wells to call by on their daily walks to check on the bowling greens.

On Monday, the club reported that two youths had jumped the locked gates and caused damage by riding BMX bikes over bowling greens and banks.

“Thankfully a member of the public reported it to the police who caught the two lads under the veranda along with a quantity of drugs in their possession”.

Days earlier the club was targeted by vandals who had broken part of a wooden seating area at the grounds.

A post on the club’s Facebook page said: “Disappointing to see that at some point in the last week whilst the bowling greens remain closed that a bench has been damaged down the lower green along with a large quantity of rubbish being left.

“A lot of work is put in over the winter to repair the benches we have around the greens and we must remind people that the club is not a place to socialise at this time.”
