CPD Y Rhyl 1879 have set their sights on Tier 4 football during their first official campaign of competitive action.

The club has formally written to the North Wales Coast Football Association with a view to starting their journey in the fourth tier in 2020/21.

This is the latest development for the newly formed set-up after the original Rhyl FC’s storied history was brought to a halt after the board of directors began winding up proceedings after failing to find the £175,000 needed to keep them in operation until May 2021.

Plans have gathered pace regarding the new project, which has more involvement from the Rhyl Fans Association but keeps managing director Adam Roche on board as managing director.

Tom Jamieson is the club’s new chairman, although Paul Higginson is also said to be lending his support.

This has seen 1879 officials reach an agreement with Belle Vue owner David Butters on a lease for next season, with the club also getting exclusive rights to purchase the facility sometime in the near future.

A new badge has also been designed and the club has also received a large number of applications for their vacant managerial position.

The new board has been busy reviewing fundraising, with the outcomes set to be revealed in due course, and they are on the lookout for sponsorship for next term.
