COLWYN Bay will be playing in JD Cymru North next season after their Tier 2 Licence appeal was successful.

The Seagulls’ were unable to claim the licence from the Football Association of Wales initially, which the club put down to a “slight clerical error”.

This issue has now been resolved, which enabled the club to meet the necessary requirement to remain in the second-tier next term.

Neil Coverley, director of football at Colwyn Bay FC, said: “It is a relief that it is completed and out of the way.

“We can now start moving the club forward again in the coming season, whenever that will be." The club have enjoyed a fantastic first campaign back in the Welsh system following a three-decade stay in the English structure.

They have seen attendances at the Four Crosses Arena soar during the season, which has seen the club become a more prominent part of the community.

Craig Hogg’s side managed to secure a top-four finish after standings were decided by points-per-game after the FAW opted to curtail the current campaign due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Plans are already being formed by the management team ahead of 2020/21, which is expected to come with a serious promotion challenge from the Seagulls.
