A GWYNEDD MAN has been lighting up the skies with the colours of the rainbow via lasers to show his support for NHS staff.

Every Thursday at 8pm, to coincide with the 'clap for carers' movement, Rob Stanley and 30 other laser professionals and amateurs across the UK have been displaying messages of appreciation in the night sky.

Rob, who lives near Carmel, says he's been doing so "for all the heroes keeping the country moving during this time."

He added: "I have been firing these laser beams skyward every Thursday, with appropriate permission from the Civil Aviation Authority.

"Last night, the weather allowed me to project a clear NHS logo with a rainbow above it onto the clouds.

"Two weeks ago, I made a huge rainbow of laser beams which was directed straight out over Dinas Dinlle before I directed it over Caernarfon, then Penygroes."

North Wales Chronicle:

Rob, 54, works with lasers for a living through Stanwax Laser. He usually work with tribute bands during their performances.

He added: "Normally at this time I would be working with one of the bands. I am involved with two Pink Floyd tributes, and a The Who and a Led Zeppelin tribute too as well as other artists such as Jon Hopkins.

"I work all over the UK and use off the shelf entertainment RGB (so full colour) laser projectors. For the cloud projections I used two 11W RGB lasers and the big rainbow was made using three of these, plus four smaller 7W RGB lasers."

Rob and the other people who have been projecting laser messages across the UK are all members of the 'Lasers for the NHS' Facebook group. Follow that page for more pictures and information.
