NORTH Wales Police have urged the public to continue to follow coronavirus restrictions during the Easter period.

They took to social media today to highlight the importance of essential travelling and to warn those who will try and use the holiday as an excuse to visit beaches or other hotspots, that their presence will be known.

They posted: "Pictured is just a small portion of the Gwynedd South team who are ready for deployment to our border areas today and keeping an eye on things over the Easter break.

"Supported by the HGC Swyddogion Gwirfoddol / NWP Special Constabulary HGC Uned Plismona'r Ffyrdd / NWP Roads Policing Unit HGC Tim Rhwystro / NWP Intercept Team and Heddlu Dyfed Powys Police we will be stopping vehicles entering the area.

"Anyone travelling must only do so in line with the government emergency regulations in response to COVID19 (essential shopping, medical reasons or key workers travelling to and from work).

"Going on holiday isn’t covered.

"If you are on the roads towards South Gwynedd, including Pen Llyn, Aberdyfi, Barmouth, Bala, and into Ceredigion be prepared to be stopped by the team.

"Key workers being stopped by the team on your way to or from work please bear with us, you’ll be met with a big smile and a thank you before being allowed on your way.

"Essential travel only."
