STAFF at a Llangollen school aim to spread some joy during a ‘strange and unsettling’ time.

Ysgol Dinas Brân took part in the ‘toilet roll challenge’ and put together a video to make pupils and parents smile whilst on lockdown.

Garin Roberts PE teacher said: “We had seen a couple similar videos on social media doing the rounds and thought what a great idea it would be to create one big video for our pupils with as many members of staff possible involved.

“Our aim was to put the video together in an attempt to put a smile on the pupils faces during these challenging times as well as relaying the important message to stay at home and be safe.

“The feedback from the video has been brilliant, parents, pupils, past pupils all commenting on how they enjoyed the video and that it had put a smile on their faces (and over 23k views!).

“We've since had our pupils attempt their own 'Stay at Home' challenge on the back of this with the Year 10 football team creating their own version.”

The whole school came together from the comfort of their own homes to ease the stress and anxiety students are inevitably feeling.

PE teacher Beccy Dew added: “It is a very strange and unsettling time for our pupils at the moment. Many are worrying about their education and exams. Myself and Garin are heads of year (Year 9 and year 10) so we know more than anyone how much this is unnerving for many of our pupils, many of whom struggle with anxiety and stress.

“We wanted to do something to make them smile and laugh. The most important thing to us is their mental health; we are all in this together.

“An email was sent to the whole staff and many got straight to it with sending their videos. It was great to see so many get behind it. We have done whole school staff videos in the past for sports day so we knew they would.

“The video was posted on our school Facebook page and has been viewed over 23k times with many lovely comments saying it made them smile and it was nice to see the staff going above and beyond to make their pupils happy.”
