One of the UK’s largest independent builders’ merchants has bought a Welshpool-based business that employs 30 people.

Huws Gray recently acquired AC Roof Trusses Ltd in a move that has been described as a “very exciting period for everyone”.

Established in 1982, AC Roof Trusses is a specialist in design, production and supply of structural timber components for builders.

The company is based at a 1.4-acre site on the Severn Farm Industrial Estate, which includes two factories.

Tom Jones, managing director of AC Roof Trusses, said: “We are very proud to be joining the Huws Gray Group. Recent years has shown exceptional growth where we have worked closely with Huws Gray and grown to be a reliable and trusted supplier of engineered timber structures.

“With the current management structure being retained we are hugely excited for the future to working with the rest of the Huws Gray Group, opening doors to new opportunities and building on the success the company has had in recent years.”

Founded from a single branch in Anglesey in 1990, Huws Gray has rapidly expanded over the past 30 years, employing more than 1,600 people and operating at 100 trading locations in Wales and England.
