A WREXHAM based organ society has suspended all of its activities due to the coronavirus outbreak.

The Committee of Llay Organ, which is one of the largest groups of its kind within Wrexham, Chester and Flintshire, took the decision over the weekend to suspend its normal activities, which includes its weekly Monday night meetings and popular monthly concerts until further notice.

The society which since its formation in 1983 has held its meetings and concerts at the Llay Royal British Legion.

Chairman of the society, Ron Jones, said: "This is the first time in our long history that we have had to postpone all our events but we have taken the decision, in line with a growing number of groups in order to help prevent the spread of coronavirus and to protect our most vulnerable members.

"We will be in touch with our all our members and friends once the situation improves and we are able to start up again.

"In the meantime, we hope that our members will stay safe and stay healthy."

The society's March concert, which was set to feature organist, Lee Dewsnap on March 25 will be re-scheduled to a later date.
