LIVE jazz will be returning to Anglesey later this month.

On Wednesday, March 25, the Victoria Hotel, Menai Bridge will welcome the Tom Thorp Quartet, featuring a saxophonist making his first appearance at the venue, accompanied by three musicians who are already popular favourites with North Wales Jazz audiences.

Based in Manchester, saxophonist Tom Thorp is a graduate of the Royal Northern College of Music who has been shortlisted for several awards, including the John Dankworth Prize and the Peter Whittingham Jazz Award.

In 2017, he won the best instrumental soloist award at the Johnny Raducanu International Jazz Festival in Romania.

Tom now works internationally as a performer and composer in jazz and classical music performing at venues including The Royal Albert Hall, the Royal Exchange Theatre, King’s Place London, Band on the Wall, the Royal Philharmonic Hall and the world famous 100 Club, as well as for various TV and radio platforms.

Playing a selection of well-known jazz standards, as well as a few of his own original compositions, Tom will be joined by fellow prize-winner at the Johnny Raducanu International Jazz Festival, virtuoso double-bassist Grant Russell, with Andy Stamatakis-Brown (keyboards) and Danny Ward (drums).

Admission is £8, with concessions at £7, NWJ Members £6, and SU members and school children £3.

The concert will get underway at 8pm.
