EVERYONE in Conwy is being urged to pick up one piece of plastic litter, particularly during the Great British Spring Clean event.

The campaign, which runs from March 20th to April 13th, will see up to 600,000 people taking action to clean up streets, parks and beaches across the country.

Robin Millar MP for Aberconwy has pledged his support for the campaign. He said: “If everyone picked up one piece of plastic a day – we could have our rivers free of plastic in a year. Picking up litter isn’t someone else’s job – we all share responsibility. It makes your neighbourhood nicer, it helps the animals and wildlife and saves money! All good reasons for doing your bit. I shall be joining litter picking events in Aberconwy during the Great British Spring Clean. You are welcome to come along too, and if your community, school or business is organising its own clean up let me know, I’d love to take part.” The Great British Spring Clean, run by environmental charity Keep Britain Tidy, brings together individuals, community organisations, businesses and councils to show they love where they live and in 2019 more than half a million #LitterHeroes collected more than 900,000 bags of rubbish.

Keep Britain Tidy Chief Executive Allison Ogden-Newton OBE said: “The overwhelming response to last year’s Great British Spring Clean showed there are many hundreds of thousands of people who love where they live and are prepared to make it better for themselves, their families and their communities.

“Litter is an issue that affects every corner of the country and, regardless of politics, the Great British Spring Clean is a campaign everyone can get behind. It is fantastic to have the support of Robin to help us reach our target of getting 600,000 people out, taking action to clean up every corner of the country.”
