A CHARITY for children with disabilities will be hosting the latest edition of a popular running festival this summer, after taking over from previous organisers.

The Movement Centre, who support children and their families living with movement disabilities, will be the new hosts of the Brynkinalt Running Festival after it was gifted to them by Up Hill Down Dale.

This year, the running festival at Brynkinalt Estate, on the outskirts of Chirk, will take place on June 14, with runners being encouraged to sign up before early bird entries close in March.

Three races will take place at the event, with runners able to have a go at 5km, 10km and 20km races, which involve a variety of terrains and gradients.

Curtis Langley, fundraising and marketing officer at The Movement Centre, said: "We are really excited to take over this fantastic running festival.

"We are grateful to Brynkinalt Estate for allowing us to use their wonderful grounds for this event. It is a truly fantastic venue.

"As a runner I know how tough this winter has been, but by booking a place, participants can look forward to dusting off their running shoes and getting the chance to explore this beautiful venue."

Brynkinalt Estate, a private estate located on the Welsh-Shropshire border, cannot be run on at any other time in the year.

It is home to a Grade II listed Jacobean mansion, which has been the ancestral home of the Trevor family since 942.

Food and refreshments will be available at the event, while children's activities will also be taking place.

The festival will raise vital funds for The Movement Centre, based in Oswestry.

They provide a specialist therapy to help children with movement disabilities to gain control of their movement and become far more independent.

The Movement Centreis also seeking sponsors for the event, with Curtis adding: "We are delighted to have the support of Oswestry Olympians and Perspective Wealth Management.

"We do have a number of exciting sponsorship packages in place for local businesses, which can include running places, so it's a great opportunity for local businesses to get involved!"
