A CHESTER and Wrexham based theatre company will bring a classic children's story bang up to date as they present a special production for the February half-term holiday.

The classic tale, "3 Little Pigs" will be staged by local theatre company Tip Top Productions at The Forum Studio Theatre in Chester from Monday, February 17 until Saturday 22. The show, which is recommended for ages 5 up to young teenagers and their families, will be written and directed by Phil Cross who created the sell out productions of "The Witches" in 2018 and "The Twits" in 2019. Phil is also the brains behind the highly popular "Wizard School" which takes place at St Mary's Creative Space in Chester each year.

Speaking about this new adaptation of the classic children's story, Phil said there is more to it than you might expect.

He said: "This isn't the five minute nursery school story you've heard before but, there there will still be a wolf and plenty of huffing and puffing, plus lots of laughs and some audience participation.

"If you enjoyed our production of "The Twits" last year, join us this half-term and follow our Piggy friends as they discover what it takes to out-wit the wicked wolf and learn the value of being different and playing to your strengths."

The play features Dan Shenton as Harold the pig, Amy Jones as Henrietta the pig, Jake Cross as Hargreaves the pig with Jack Morris playing the big bad Wolf. The show will be narrated by Peter Edwards who played Mr Twit in last year's half-term show at the theatre. With tickets already on sale, producers are advising early booking to avoid disappointment.

In addition to shows at The Forum Studio Theatre and continuing its excellent relationship with Theatr Clwyd, in March, Tip Top will present "Cheshire Cats" written by Chester based writer Gail Young. The play, which runs at The Emlyn Williams Theatre at the Mold venue from March 4-7, tells the story of a group of friends who are taking part in a Moonlight Walk in aid of a Breast Cancer Charity. It was first performed in 2005 followed by sell out performances at The Edinburgh Fringe festival in 2006 and The Forum Studio Theatre in 2011. Since being published by Samuel French in 2011, the play has been performed throughout the World by many different theatre companies and has raised many thousands of pounds for cancer charities.
