A CAERNAFON family garden centre business has blossomed from humble roots to being the best in Britain.

Fron Goch, which started out as a small market garden, has been named the "Best Garden Centre in the UK 2019."

The Williams family got the news at the Garden Centre Association's black-tie awards ceremony in Bristol on Tuesday night.

Fron Goch's managing director Justin Williams, who took over the centre in the 1990s, said he was "blown away" putting the success down to their "fantastic and talented" team and customers.

He also acknowledged the hard work of his parents Robin and Valerie Williams, who started the business in 1981, and sister Melanie Sewell, who runs its award winning restaurant.

The centre has evolved over the years and now incorporates features such as educational initiatives for gardeners, visits by school children and an innovative dementia friendly scheme.

It is now planning a £1.5m expansion investment.

Justin took to Facebook saying: "I'd like to share with you some incredible news.

"This week we attended the Garden Centre Association‘s annual awards ceremony. Over the years we have achieved various awards in the north-west as well as nationally within the restaurant and we celebrate these with our team and our customers.

"This year however, much to our astonishment, it was announced that we had achieved the highest acclaimed award within the Garden Centre awards and named: best Garden Centre in the UK, 2019.

"We are incredibly grateful to our customers and the local community. None of this would have been possible without your support.

"I'd also like to personally thank all our hard working team who have made this possible through their passion and creativity.

"Our team is now over one hundred strong and full of talent, warmth and expertise. We cannot thank them enough for all their hard work and dedication.

"Congratulations Team Fron Goch! I am bursting with pride."
