A WOMAN has been fined after admitting to being drunk and disorderly in Wrexham town centre.

Elaine Maria Mapp, 54, of Woodland Grove, was found on the floor of the Wrexham bus station toilets and refused to move, being deliberately obstructive. Mapp, a former farm owner, became abusive to police when they ordered her to get up off the floor.

Justin Espie, prosecuting, told Mold Magistrates Court how Mapp swore and shouted at police during the incident on the afternoon of January 8.

Gary Harvey, defending, said his client was very embarrassed to be back before the courts, having had an issue with alcohol since the breakdown of her marriage. He said how everything had got on top of her after the Christmas and New Year period and she deeply regretted her behaviour. Probation officer Pamela Roberts said Mapp had been made subject of a 12 month community order in April last year and since it was imposed, how her attendance had been excellent and she had completed the 120 hours of unpaid work aspect.

She went on to say how Mapp had not been in trouble with the police until 2016, but the breakdown of her 30 year marriage had acted as a trigger for her alcohol abuse, which had been the root cause of her offending. On the day in question, Mapp had returned to her former family home, a working farm, where an auction of equipment was taking place as part of the divorce proceedings.

Mapp was fined £66, and court costs of £85 and ordered to pay a surcharge of £32.
