A NORTH Wales recruitment agency has celebrated four decades in business.

Supertemps, which has offices in Colwyn Bay, Anglesey and Bangor, has enjoyed a strong period over the last few years despite uncertainty over Brexit, which led to many industries delaying their hiring and expansion plans.

It provides a platform for employers and jobseekers in commercial, industrial, hospitality, social care, health, housing and construction.

Managing director Sarah Ellwood, whose mum Dorothy launched the business in 1980, said she is “incredibly proud” to reach the milestone.

“Having helped her to take it from our family home to employing staff in offices across north west Wales and to have grown and grown over such a long period of time is remarkable, but we have done so through hard work and dedication to the people and companies we work with,” she said.

Mrs Ellwood said she is “confident” that 2020 will see an upsurge in job appointments and is working closely with clients and candidates to help meet skills gaps and demand in numerous sectors.

The firm is also looking to expand its presence in North East Wales with a free employment law seminar at St Asaph’s OpTIC Centre in March, led by Manchester firm JMW Solicitors.

In the spring, Supertemps and its IT, engineering and executive arm S2 Recruitment, will also reveal special offers and discounted permanent placements following consultation with business clients.

Sian Shepherd is also set to return as business manager of S2 Recruitment and a new range of services will be rolled out to job seekers over the next 12 months, which Mrs Ellwood believes will be the firm’s best yet.

“We have seen it all over the last 40 years, the good times and the challenging periods of recession, austerity and high unemployment,” she said. “Throughout it all we have been determined to continue working hard, helping to boost the local economy and matching thousands of candidates with their perfect job, which is something we are very proud of.

“Thanks again to everyone for your support over the last 40 years.”
