Braving The Strait
MEMBERS of Bethesda Slimming World braved the Menai Strait on Stand Up Paddle boards to raise £500 for a good cause.
The girls took part in SUP explore on January 4 - which was a paddle to Caernarfon and back - in aid of a fellow group member whose son has been undergoing treatment at Birmingham hospital.
They raised a total of £500 for their 'Stand Up For Morgan' campaign, with donations still coming in.
Catrin Bond from Bethesda took part on the day. She said: "What a great day. It was a real challenge, but we stopped for some soup by the castle and had a great paddle back with the wind and tide pushing us along. I loved it, what a great experience!”
As well as facing their fears and pushing their comfort zones, members of the Bethesda group have lost a collective weight of six stone since the group opened in September.
Ali Yates of Plas Menai added “I am so proud of the ladies for what they achieved today. We don’t normally see beginners at this time of year, but it was all about the challenge. A big well done to Manny, Ela, Catrin, Sara, Morfudd and Mary who really went the extra six miles."
