TWO pupils from a school in Bangor enjoyed success in a Chinese Arts competition, organised by the three Confucius Institutes in Wales.

The competition was open to all pupils in Wales on the theme of celebrating the friendship between Wales and China.

The winner of the Painting Category for Years 10 -13 was Ffreur Bristow and the Poetry Category was won by Eira Daimond – both of whom are pupils at Ysgol Friars.

They were presented with one part of their prize by Ysgol Friars Deputy Head, David Healey and Confucius Institute tutors Di Shi and Jiaqi Zhang in one of the Confucius Classrooms at the school.

Both have now been invited to the official unveiling of their work in the Senedd.

Friars deputy head David Healey, said: “It’s certainly an achievement that two of the winners in the competition are from this school and reflects the passion the pupils have towards Chinese culture, with both Ffreur and Eira studying HSK Mandarin after school as well. Well done to both of them!”
