Detectives investigating the death of a 74-year-old woman at Fairbourne, Gwynedd, on Christmas Day have been given extra time to question a 75-year-old man arrested on suspicion of murder.
DCI Brian Kearney said: “Earlier this morning, a warrant of further detention was granted at a special hearing at Llandudno Magistrates Court.
“Our thoughts continue to be with the victim’s family as they come to terms with their loss and specially trained family liaison officers continue to support them. We continue to request that their privacy is respected at this very sad time.
“I also wish to reassure our local community, that Incidents of this nature in North West Wales are very rare. We believe that this is an isolated tragic incident.”
