POLICE are warning residents in the Dolgellau area to secure their properties after reports of three men attempting to break-into homes.

Gwynedd South police said on Thursday morning that during the previous 24hrs three males in dark clothing had attempted to break into homes whilst the occupants were out.

In a statement on the HGC De Gwynedd / NWP Gwynedd South Facebook page they said: "We believe at least one of the males not to have a local accent.

"We need assistance in identifying these offenders.

Have you seen any suspicious activity or vehicles?

"Have you had anyone staying, eating or drinking in your hotel, B and B, café or pub that have given you cause for concern?

"Do you have any CCTV or Dash cam footage that might help us?"

Anyone who can help provide any information about the crime is asked to contact the police on 101 or via our webchat quoting X181739.

They added:

"If you see anything happening then call 999 immediately.

"This sort of crime is thankfully still uncommon in our district.

"Please ensure you make it difficult for these offenders by properly securing your home and outbuildings.

"Please report anything you consider suspicious without delay.

"These people are not welcome in our community, help us deliver that message very clearly to these individuals!"
