AS election fever heats up here are the candidates taking part in forthcoming battle of the ballot box.

Now is your chance to learn more about the Arfon and Ynys Môn parliamentary candidates, in their own words.

They will be bidding for your vote on polling day on Thursday, December 12.

They are, for Ynys Môn: Helen Sarah Jenner; Brexit Party, Virginia Ann Crosbie; Conservative Party, Mary Elizabeth Roberts; Labour and Aled Ap Dafydd, Plaid Cymru.

For Arfon, they are: Gary Gribben; Brexit, Gonul Daniels; Conservative, Steffie Williams Roberts; Labour and Hywel Williams; Plaid Cymru.

In their own words, the 2019 candidates tell us a little bit about themselves.

There are are some new faces joining the fray but also some familiar ones are back.

In the Ynys Môn seat, former MP Albert Owen, recently stepped down after 18 years. Mr Owen, who served in the role made the decision to be able to “spend more quality time with family”.

Labour selected Mary Roberts to become his successor in the race.

For the Conservatives, Tory MP Chris Davies, who was convicted of faking expenses claims, recently stood down as a candidate. Virginia Ann Crosbie has taken his place.

Last time, Plaid’s Ieuan Wyn Jones stood for the island, but this year Aled ap Dafydd has taken on the fight. For the first time, the new Brexit party has put up candidate Helen Jenner and there is no Liberal Democrat candidate.

In Arfon, Labour have selected Steffie Williams Roberts in place of 2017 candidate Mary Griffiths Clarke who has stepped down.

Plaid Cymru’s Hywel Williams will be standing once more, whilst Gonul Daniels is running for the Conservatives and Gary Gribben is the Brexit Party candidate.
