Gary Gribben (Brexit Party)

Gary Gribben is the 2019 Brexit candidate for Arfon - a party which will be new for this General Election.

I am 69-years-old, married with two children and have two Welsh grandchildren. I first came to Bangor in 2003 and now live in Llandwrog, Caernerfon. I have been a successful Project Manager in UK and the Middle East for over 30 years and spent two years as a lecturer at Sheffield Hallam University.

For more than 20 years I have been a speaker and workshop coordinator at conferences in Europe, USA and the Middle East, specialising in strategic planning, project management and social development.

I believe that development of small and medium size businesses (SMEs) is the key to financial and social success. In 2012 I received a Government Excellence Award for work on managing social projects and SME development within the Bahrain Vision 2030 Project.

I subsequently created a non-profit organization to continue social and business development. I obtained a Master’s degree with distinction from Aberdeen University, in 2010, with a focus on managing cultural diversity.

Gonul Daniels (Welsh Conservatives)

Gonul Daniels grew up in London. She is not a career politician, but rather a working mum who has a career in technology and engineering and also has expertise in education and women’s issues.

She is married to Jon and they have 8-year-old twins, Harry and Poppy.

She says she first decided to get involved in campaigning when she saw the social injustice in school provision and believed that politics needed people with real world experience to be involved to bring about change.

She led a parental pressure group which campaigned for a new primary school, which opened a new 240-pupil school in 2016.

Steffie Williams Roberts (Welsh Labour)

Steffie Williams Roberts was named the Labour candidate after Mary Gwen Griffiths-Clarke, who contested the seat in 2017, stood down.

Steffie, who is aged 27, was born in Rhiwlas and grew up on the Maesgeirchen Estate in Bangor.

She now lives in the city with her wife.

Steffie studied law at University before joining the Labour Party in 2015.

Mrs Williams Roberts says her priority policy is to ensure there is fairer funding in Wales in the future.

Hywel Williams (Plaid Cymru)

Hywel Williams has been a Member of Parliament since he was elected as the Caernarfon MP in 2001. Boundary changes created the new Arfon constituency in 2010 and he remained MP ever since.

In the 2017 General election, he won the seat once more with 11,519 votes from a turnout of 68.2%.

Born in Pwllheli in 1953, he studied psychology at the University of Wales, Cardiff, before qualifying as a social worker at the University of Wales, Bangor in 1977. He was also a mental health social worker in Dwyfor.

He has been married to his partner, Myfanwy Davies, since 2010.
