A 24-YEAR-OLD former Gwynedd man has been jailed for 27 months on Thursday, after admitting sexual activity with a girl of 15.

Caernarfon crown court heard Thomas Shackleford, now of Dudley in the West Midlands, had made contact on Facebook with the stranger in 2017.

Judge Huw Rees said the overnight conversation went on for ten hours and they eventually agreed to meet at his flat in a Snowdonia town.

Judge Rees said there was “classic grooming” by Shackleford.

During the 20 months delay between his arrest and charging, he’d faked an illness and groped a woman paramedic, and been jailed.

In the case of the girl there was “repeated offending over a period limited to a month” involving kissing and touching.

A sexual harm prevention order was made for ten years and Shackleford must register as a sex offender.

Defence barrister Simon Rogers said the offence dated back to April and May 2017.
