A MAN threatened staff and throwing bottles in a town shop was tazered by police.

Dyfed-Powys Police officers were called to deal with the man who was behaving in a threatening manner at a Co-op in Machynlleth.

A police spokesman said: "A 25-year-old man entered the shop on Doll Street at around 6am yesterday, Wednesday, November 13.

"He became verbally abusive and was throwing glass bottles around the shop, leaving staff members concerned for their safety.

"Despite police efforts to diffuse the situation, he continued throwing and smashing glass bottles at officers, which led to officers utilising taser to bring the situation under control.

"He suffered cuts to the side of his body from broken glass and was taken to hospital by police.

"Once discharged from hospital, he was arrested on suspicion of burglary, criminal damage and affray. He remains in police custody.”

The shop fully re-opened later in the day,
