AN ANGLESEY man has raised £570 by 'braving the shave' in honour of his grandfather who is battling cancer.

On Saturday, 24-year-old Alex Clarke from Menai Bridge shaved all his hair off to raise awareness of the 'Brave The Shave' movement and donate all the money raised to Macmillan Cancer Support.

Since 2015, brave shavers have raised over £22.7 million by taking part in the nationwide event.

Julie's Barber shop in Llangefni was the venue for construction labourer Alex when he braved the shave on Saturday afternoon.

Commenting on why he decided to take part in the fundraiser, he said: "I've decided to do this in honour of my grandad, who is currently battling cancer.

"He means the world to me and seeing how brave he has been throughout his battle has inspired me to brave the shave and raise money for the Macmillan charity.

"I'd like to say thank you so much to everyone who sponsored me and helped raise the money. It means so much to me and my family. I'm still trying to get used to the new look though!"

Proud girlfriend Jessica Jones, who accompanied Alex during the shave on Saturday, said: "I'd like to say a big thank you to everyone who has donated to Alex's cause so far.

"I would also ask anyone who has a few spare pennies to please donate to this fantastic charity and help double his target - We even managed to convince him to take a load of his beard off too!"
