RHYL has joined towns across the world by turning purple for polio.
To mark World Polio Day on Thursday, October 24 the town's Sky Tower and Pont y Ddraig footbridge were illuminated purple.
Organised by Rhyl rotary club, the display paid tribute to the mass immunisation programmes since 1985 children’s little fingers were marked with a purple dye to show that they had been vaccinated.
Over the past 34 years Rotary Clubs throughout the world have contributed more than 2 billion US dollars to the global eradication of the crippling polio virus and many Rotarians have voluntarily assisted with the vaccination programmes.
The vaccination programme must continue in up to 60 countries for around 400million children to ensure that the virus is completely wiped out.
