WELL known faces from the North Wales music scene will be playing alongside talented Bangor youngsters in a bid to help ‘inspire greatness.’

Record label 8StarMusic, which nurtures young talent and supports emerging musicians, is holding a community showcase in the city.

Youngsters from Maesgeirchen will perform alongside artists like Mr Phormula, Martin Daws and the 8StarMusic collective.

The showcase performance ‘Letters Grow’ is on at Pontio’s Studio Theatre at 6.30pm, on Wednesday, October 30.

The aim of the evening is to shine light on current artists and emerging, untapped, musical talent.

Established in 2016, 8StarMusic is a multi-genre record label, social media content creator and promoter.

Its latest collaboration has received support from the ‘MaesNi’ community hub in Maesgeirchen, funded through the Invest Local programme.

Over the past six months, 8StarMusic has been holding drop-ins to give young people the chance to ‘have a go’ at making music.

Owen Maclean of 8StarMusic said: “It’s all about providing the necessary support and tools required to become successful in the music industry, including things like using the equipment, utilising the power of social media and making industry connections.

“We’re into all kinds of music, there’s no boundaries, everything from acoustic vibes to gritty hip-hop, and we’re absolutely buzzing to be bringing it to Pontio.

"We’ve already done some sessions in the community of Maesgeirchen, but performing at a professional venue elevates this project.

“We’re always about doing more, ‘inspiring greatness’, and we want to get everyone involved.

"Music is in our DNA after all, it’s part of our history and culture, and we want to get this place on the map.”

Tickets are £3 from www.pontio.co.uk or 01248 38 28 28.
