A POPULAR food and drink festival in Flintshire is just days away.

The 14th Mold Food and Drink Festival returns this weekend, and promises to be bigger and better than ever - with it expected to attract thousands of people across the region.

This year's festival will be headlined by award-winning cheesemaker and Coronation Street star Sean Wilson.

The festival will be held on September 21 and 22 on Mold’s New Street Car Park and will run from 10am to 5pm on the Saturday and Sunday. The outdoor food court is open until around 8pm on Saturday, with live music on the stage.

As well as more than 100 food exhibitors, there will a be a host of celebrity chefs on hand, with Sean Wilson taking to the stage on Sunday at 11.20am, 1.30pm and 3.35pm. Celebrity chef Graham Tinsley MBE leads Saturday’s line-up, appearing on stage at 10.30am, 1.30pm, 3.30pm, along with vegetarian chef Eddie Shepherd - who's on at 12.30 and 2.30pm.

Joanna Douglas, Mold Town Council business and regeneration officer, said: "It’s very exciting that the Mold Food and drinks festival is on this weekend, now in its 14th year this is an extremely successful event bring the very best in exhibitors, cookery theatres, produce, and leading names in the culinary world.

A free park and ride bus will run from Theatr Clwyd, Mold, over the weekend. The postcode for the park and ride is CH7 1YA.

Admission is priced at £6 for adults, £1 for children (aged 4-15, under 4s free), but book online by 5pm Friday September 20 and children get in free.

There are free wristbands for children and a team of dedicated volunteers will be on hand to help. Guide or assistance dogs are welcome.
