COUNCILLORS of a Flintshire town mucked in for a clean up as part of Big Dee Day.

Saltney town and county councillors and members of the public took part in a litter and dog fouling pick across the town's Riverside Walk on Friday.

It formed part of Big Dee Day - one of the largest conservation events in north east Wales which has resulted in approximately 5,000 bags of litter being collected since it launched in 2007.

Now in its 13th year, it sees community groups, conservation organisations and local businesses join together to scour the coastline and tributaries along an area spanning from Talacre to Chester and south Denbighshire.

In Saltney, Cllr Richard Lloyd - county councillor for Mold Junction Ward, Cllr Carol Gregory, Cllr Hannah Jones - deputy mayor,Cllr Arthur Gregory and former councillor Barrie Gregory took part in the clean up.

As well as the litter and dog fouling pick, the team also as gave Saltney Sid - a statue of a chain-maker of the world renowned former Saltney iron works - a a make over. The team put plants around the base and finishing it off with some slate which was kindly donated by P&A fencing on River Lane in Saltney.
