BEAUMARIS inshore lifeboat was called out to the aid of a broken down speedboat off Port Dinorwic.

The shout came late yesterday afternoon following a call from the Coastguard rescue coordination centre at Holyhead.

A spokesperson for Beaumaris RNLI said: “Lifeboat volunteers where paged at 4.04 pm and our inshore Atlantic 85 Lifeboat, Annette Mary Liddington, launched at 4.15 pm and proceeded to search the Menai Straits near Port Dinorwic for the vessel.

“In addition to the lifeboat the Bangor Coastguard Rescue Team were also deployed to the shore in the vicinity of Port Dinorwic.

“When the lifeboat arrived the crew of the craft had managed to get the engine working. The lifeboat then arranged to shadow them as they made their way to the boatyard situated at Gallows Point. The vessel was hauled out of the water at the boat yard.

“At this stage the lifeboat was stood down band made her way back to her station at Beaumaris.”
