FOOTBALL mania hit a village in Wrexham over the bank holiday weekend, with plenty of fun-filled action for all the family.

Brymbo Lodge Youth Football Club won the right to host this year's Fun Football Festival, which is a project created by fast food chain McDonald's. The project aims to give children aged between 5 and 11 the opportunity to play football for the first time.

The event took place at Brymbo Cricket Club on Sunday and saw more than 500 children taking part in various football related activities during the day, including a mini tournament.

Brymbo YFC coach Kieran Howard delighted his club is hosting it.

He said: "This is huge for us as it showcases what a great grassroots football club we are."

"Designed by FA coaches, the event is the perfect tool to get children more active outdoors during the summer holidays."

The event saw large inflatables and fun activities run alongside the annual tournament, which meant the day was a great way to involve all the family and not just those who love football.
