THE first-ever Johnstown 'Big Sunday Funday' proved to be a massive success as its new location was baked in glorious sunshine.
The event was created by Denise’s Army led by Kelly Bellis and Marc Caldecott in conjunction with the Wrexham Glyndwr University Rotary Club in memory of Denise Caldecott who passed away suddenly last year.
It took place at Heol Kenyon playing fields on Sunday, with a whole host of activities on offer.
Lasting eight hours, the event featured live music including Michael Jackson, Pink and Cher tribute shows, as well as the usual face painting, stalls-a-plenty, Bouncy castle, Trampolines and Bouncy slides.
For once, the famous British bank holiday weather played ball, with cloudless blue skies, with temperatures hitting the mid to late 20's.
There was fun for all the family with children taking part in rodeo bull rides, zorb football, while there was a performance by the Dance Zone Academy.
Funds raised from the event are being used to buy multiple defibrillators for the local community at various locations.
