A REGIONAL theatre in Wrexham is gearing up for its new season, with a play that helped launch the Stateside career of James Corden.

The Grove Park Theatre, which is Wrexham's oldest amateur theatre, launches its new season next month with a performance of One Man, Two Guvnors, which landed the British performer a string of rave reviews in the West End, and a Tony award for his turn on Broadway.

Written by Richard Bean, One Man, Two Guvnors tells the story of hapless minder Francis, who's trying his best to work for two different criminals - who if finding out about his deception, will land him in some serious trouble. Set in 1960s Brighton, the play is an update of the classic Italian farce “A Servant of Two Masters” with Director Gemma Richards following up last year’s comedy twist on Ben Hur with an even more energetic romp.

Anyone who’s seen the mega-successful 2011 National Theatre production of the show will know it’s a play packed with physical and verbal comedy, toe-tapping musical numbers and some audience participation. The cast includes Grove Park Theatre veterans such as Matthew Richards (as Francis) and Julie Blagrove (Dolly, the object of his affections) and a host of new faces are making their Wrexham stage debut.

The ten day run kicks off a stunning new season of plays including The Darling Buds of May and Glorious! - the Florence Foster Jenkins story.

The theatre is also getting a makeover - a new logo and fresh look for the posters and flyers are just some of the ways Grove Park is trying to encourage regular supporters and first-timers to see what amazing benefits and opportunities are available to anyone who wants to join as a member.
