A COLWYN Bay school has appointed one of its former pupils as its new head teacher.

Rydal Penrhos has confirmed Lucy Davies as its new preparatory school head teacher.

Mrs Davies worked in two schools in Nottingham holding management positions in the subjects of science and maths, as well as being in charge of different year groups in large schools. She obtained a degree in anthropology at Durham University before moving to Exeter University to take a teaching qualification.

She and her husband have four sons, and the family moved abroad for some years where Mrs Davies worked as head of mathematics at a large primary school in Qatar subsequently Mrs Davies held various leadership positions until finally becoming the head of juniors with responsibility for nearly 1,000 students, before taking a second postgraduate qualification in dyslexia and learning.

Mrs Davies, said: “As a former pupil of Rydal Penrhos I feel extremely privileged to return to the school.

“It gave me a love of learning and I know that it still has that special blend of academic rigour alongside excellent individual pastoral care. I am extremely excited about meeting staff, pupils and parents over the forthcoming weeks.”
