HUNDREDS of rainbow-coloured bikes are being delivered to businesses across Northallerton as the town gets ready for the cycling championships next month.
Hambleton District Council is giving every high street business a bike to decorate their windows to greet the UCI Road World Championships on September 25.
The men’s elite time trial starts from the town that day.
The authority is working with Northallerton BID to paint the town all the colours of the rainbow – the UCI colours – to welcome the riders to the town.
Each business will receive one bike, but extras can be bought for £10 each. Residents can also buy the bikes to decorate homes on the route out of town.
