A PADDLE boarder without a lifejacket prompted RNLI lifeboat crews to launch.
The UK Coastguard at Holyhead had received reports from people on the shore that he might be in difficulties in the Menai Strait, at Aber Menai, near Caernarfon
In view of the potential danger, the Beaumaris RNLI volunteers launched to investigate at 4.24 pm, on Friday, August 2. The Llandwrog Coastguard Rescue Team also attended on the shoreline.
On arrival, the lifeboat crew located the inflatable board, with the paddle boarder, who insisted he was fine and required no assistance. He continued on his way.
The lifeboat volunteers reminded him of the benefits of wearing a lifejacket but as no assistance was required returned to the Beaumaris lifeboat station.
The lifeboat was back at 6pm, refuelled and made ready for her next service call by 6.45 pm.
