PUPILS of a primary school in Prestatyn have become clued-up on all things money matters.
Ysgol Clawdd Offa, has received a visit from the Principality Building Society's Prestatyn branch for financial education lessons.
The primer for good money saving practices comes as research from the Money Advice Service shows that children pick up adult financial habits from the age of four.
Rowen Davenport, Deputy Head Teacher, Ysgol Clawdd Offa said: “The students really enjoyed the financial education lessons held by Principality. The activities were engaging and provided our students with lifelong skills on how to save and manage money effectively.
"We are extremely thankful for the continued support Principality have shown towards our school community this year and we look forward to many more workshops in the near future.”
Throughout the workshops, the pupils learnt skills such as costing, defining a need and a want when spending as well as saving for a day out.
Laura Wall’s popular Goose’s Cake Bake storybook was also read and donated to the students to complement their learning. The storybook, which follows the story of a child who organises a bake sell to raise money to buy books, taught key themes such as entrepreneurship and money management.
Linda Denyer, Customer Consultant, Principality Building Society said: “It was a fantastic experience being able to deliver financial education sessions to Ysgol Clawdd Offa.
"We’re committed to supporting the community in Prestatyn and impacting on the younger generation by delivering financial education workshops is a key part of this.”
