THOUSANDS of people are set to descend on Moelfre for a fun nautical day.

The Moelfre RNLI Lifeboat Station welcomes visitors all year round, but the highlight is its Lifeboat Day.

This year, the popular event is on from 10am, with activities until at least 9pm, on Saturday August 3.

There are lots of activities on throughout the day with stalls, food, children’s games, live music and fair ground rides and live coverage by Anglesey radio station Môn FM. The lifeboat launch and display is at 12:30pm.

The annual fundraising event happens in the Beach Road area, at the lifeboat station, and at the RNLI Seawatch Centre.

A lifeboat display is planned, with a launch of the RNLB Kiwi, the all weather lifeboat. The vessel cost £2.7 million, following a bequest to the station. There will also be a launch of the inshore lifeboat Enfys II, purchased in 2018, by an anonymous donor.

A Moelfre RNLI spokesperson said: “It’s a fabulous day, great fun for all the family. We hope people will support us. It’s our way of giving something back to the community.”

The organisers urge people to arrive early to park, or consider using the bus or car share, to help reduce parking congestion.
