LLANDUDNO had mixed fortunes from their two pre-season fixtures this week.

The FAW Tier 2 North League side continued their preparations with a draw and a defeat from two outings in recent days, with Matthew Jones looking to blend a wealth of fresh faces in time for the start of competitive action in a fortnight’s time.

Saturday’s workout saw Tudno beaten 2-0 at home by Nantwich Town, who opened the scoring on 12 minutes when Jamie Reed unleashed a powerful free kick into the top corner.

The home side missed a host of opportunities to get themselves back into the contest, but they were unable to convert any of them and were made to pay on 71 minutes when Joe Malkin doubled their advantage after some exceptional approach play from Casper Hughes.

Their weekend outing followed on from a midweek 2-2 draw at Mold Alexandra, which saw Bryan Roberts continue his superb start to the summer after joining from Conwy Borough with the opener with just five minutes on the clock.

Alex bounced back following the setback and got back on level terms through Ben Howarth on 31 minutes, and the home start extended their positive momentum with another on the stroke of half-time from Lewis George after neat work in the build-up by Kevin Day.

The second period saw Tudno press their opponents considerably as they looked for a route back in the contest, and they were given a golden chance to equalise through a penalty, which striker Dean Seager converted to ensure both sides had something to show from an entertaining affair.
