A KEY triumph went the way of Llangollen over the weekend.
Tower Fields was the venue as Llan hosted fellow high-flyers Dolgellau 2nds in Division Four of the North Wales Cricket League.
The Gwynedd side ended up losing for only the second time this season, with Llangollen winning by four wickets.
Sent into bat, Dolgellau notched up 136-6 from their 40 overs.
Captain Richard Rees hit his second successive half-century for the visitors and he top scored with 63.
Gareth Jones (2-29), Richard Hughes (2-30) and Gethin Williams (1-34) shared the wickets.
The hosts replied with 137-6 in the 33rd over.
Kamran Hassan top scored with 32 and other decent contributions came from Richard Hughes (29 not out), Gethin Williams (16 not out), Arthur Jenkins (13), Gareth Jones (12) and Bryn Sheppard (11).
It was a fine Saturday for Ruthin 2nds, who eased to a nine-wicket win at Halkyn 2nds.
Mike Evans took 5-26 as Halkyn were bowled out for 80.
Other wickets went the way of James Harrison (2-24) and Robert Williams (1-4).
Murray Whitehead's unbeaten 43 then helped Ruthin to 81-1 in reply.
