MARCHWIEL WREXHAM 58-0

CORWEN 54

NINE-MAN Corwen experienced a testing weekend of league action.

Marchwiel Wrexham were the hosts for Corwen's latest North Wales Cricket League Division Two encounter.

Being two players down for the encounter, Corwen skipper Kevin Sharp took the bat first option after he won the toss.

An early wicket fell when Richard Harris was dismissed by Jason Wharam (2-18), however captain Sharp and Simon Harrison then went about trying to rebuild the innings.

The duo put together a 22-run stand for the second wicket, which was the biggest partnership of the innings.

This came to a halt when Sharp was bowled by Wharam for 18.

Despite the best efforts of Nathan Murray (11) and Carl Green (10), Corwen's batsmen failed to get to grips with Marchwiel Wrexham bowler Josh Williams.

He finished with brilliant figures of 7.3-4-6-5.

Sam Shoemark (1-6) grabbed the other wicket to fall as Corwen were bowled out for 54 in the 25th over of their innings.

A patient opening partnership saw Marchwiel Wrexham through to a maximum points haul.

Michael Forgrave (24 not out) and Gareth Evans (22 not out) were solid as the hosts made a winning 58 without loss in the 15th over.
