NANTGLYN 2
YSCEIFIOG 1
THIS was the Shield quarter-final that was the toughest to predict.
On paper, Nantglyn looked to be the strong favourites following an excellent campaign that saw them finish in the top-three.
However, while they ended the league campaign in seventh position, Ysceifiog went into the contest on the back of a brilliant run that had yielded 10 wins from their previous 13 matches.
This superb run of form had included a 1-0 win at Nantglyn.
However, it was the boys in blue who made sure they kept their dreams of silverware well and truly alive with a 2-1 triumph.
The Nantglyn hero was Gwion Evans, who bagged both of his side's goals on the night, taking his tally for 2019 up to four goals.
An own goal supplied the response for Ysceifiog, who will undoubtedly be a powerful force when the 2020 season gets underway.
For Nantglyn, two more victories will hand them their first Shield since 2006.
