A CHALLENGE has issued by St David’s Hospice, Llandudno for runners to raise money through competing in the Conwy and Bangor half marathons.

Runners can get their entry fee free through the hospice.

Hospice Fundraiser James Wilde said: “The money raised will make a massive difference to the patients and their families here at St David’s Hospice.

“You could run in either the Bangor half marathon on Sunday October 6, or the Conwy half marathon on Sunday November 17.

“We have a limited amount of free places in the two races.”

He added: So far we have 20 people signed up for the Conwy half and 10 for the Bangor half. There are still spaces available.

“Last year we had 26 runners over three races who helped us raise £6,222.70, we would love to raise over and above this amount

He explained that to qualify for the free places potential runners have to show a minimum level of sponsorship.

Earlier this year, Billy McQueeney a 26 year old electrical fitter from Llandudno ran the Great Manchester half marathon, and raised £1,410.59 for the hospice.

Billy said: “The hospice looked after my mum and nan in their time of need before they died. Not only do they care for their patients but they also make sure they do what they can for the patient’s families, which is a truly kind gesture I’ll never forget.”
