A DOG has been killed after falling from a cliff in Gwynedd this morning (Monday).
The RNLI confirmed they had rescued the dog's distraught owners who had got stuck whilst trying to recover the animal.
The incident took place at Porth Ychain, near Porthdinllaen just after 11am on Monday morning.
A spokesperson for Porthdinllaen RNLI said: "We were called around 11.10am, after a dog fell off a cliff at Porth Ychain.
"On arrival, it was confirmed that there were two people now at the bottom of the cliff and two dogs. Coxswain Owain Williams decided that the safest and quickest option to evacuate the casualties would be to deploy the all weather lifeboat's Y boat.
"Two members of the volunteer crew were able to get close to the shore and then found that the first dog, that had fallen down the cliff, had unfortunately not survived. The other dog and one of the owner`s had managed to scramble back up the cliff to a safe vantage point.
"It was a very sad incident."
Dylan Thomas, Porthdinllaen Lifeboat Press Officer added, 'Unfortunately, on arrival to the scene it was found that the dog had succumbed to the injuries it sustained in the fall, and our thoughts are with the owners, who have lost their much loved pet."
