CHILDREN were taken to the top of the world during a special day out in Snowdonia.

A group of 47 pupils and four teachers from Ysgol Dolbadarn, Llanberis were taken for a heritage railway ride to the summit of Snowdon mountain.

The children were treated to the iconic journey on the Snowdon Mountain Railway as guests of Vince Hughes the railway's commercial manager and Llanberis Councillor Kevin Morris Jones.

Cllr Morris Jones is an employee of the railway and also drove the children's train, which was pulled by a diesel loco, up and down the mountain.

Cllr Morris Jones said: "The weather was cold, but the visibility was clear and the children and teachers all really enjoyed their trip.

"They were applauding walkers and smiling and waving all the way up the mountain!"
