A YOUNG fundraiser with autism has undergone a radical transformation in gratitude for the support his family has received.

William Jones, 14 from Gronant, has raised £400 for the Prestatyn based Pop-in Centre and Macmillan Cancer Support.

A pupil of Denbigh school Ysgol Plas Brondyffryn, William - who has had long hair since he was a child - sacrificed 20 inches of hair, which he will now also donate to the Little Princess Trust charity which creates wigs for children with cancer.

William said: "The Pop-in Centre has helped my mum, and as a group we all stand strong together.

“The Macmillan nurses helped my great grandparents when they were ill, and also gave support to other family members at the same time.”

Pop-in chairperson Veronica Wells said: "We're delighted with the donation made by William and said it will go towards supporting the ongoing delivery of vital services for families and young people. He's always had long hair, so this is such a big thing for him."

Anyone wishing to add to William's total is asked to donate to either charity directly.

The Pop In Centre, which operates a drop in centre for young people and support groups for families has been operating in the area since 1996.
