An Anglesey man who admitted sexual activity with an underage teenage girl was jailed for four-and-a-half years on Friday.

Judge Huw Rees at Caernarfon crown court told 28-year-old Nathan Jones, of Garreg Domas, Holyhead: “Susceptible girls of her age need to be protected.” He had “groomed’ her.

A sexual harm prevention order was made and he must register as a sex offender.

“You took advantage of a girl,” the judge said.

Simon Rogers, defending, said: "This is a case, and the prosecution accept, this is sexual activity which is entirely consensual.”

Jones had worked as a mechanic and in a factory previously. “He will find any period of imprisonment extremely difficult,” Mr Rogers remarked.

Prosecuting counsel Richard Edwards said the victim felt deeply hurt and “vulnerable and ashamed”.
