A POPULAR Wrexham community event was blessed with warm spring sunshine as hundreds of people enjoyed the attractions on offer.

The latest Rhosddu Park Fun Day, held on Tuesday, was organised by Wrexham MP Ian Lucas and staff in the constituency office in partnership with a number of organisations based in the town.

After a few morning rain showers, the clouds parted and the park was bathed in sun for the afternoon.

The event was free to attend and featured a wide array of stalls and family-friendly attractions, including a bouncy castle, treasure hunt and dog show.

There were also craft stalls, tennis activities, storytelling and a performance from the Wrexham Singing Hands choir.

The local Spar, Tesco and Asda stores provided free refreshments.

Wrexham’s MP organises the fun days twice a year, working closely with the Salvation Army, the Association of Voluntary Organisations in Wrexham (AVOW), North Wales Police, St James’ Church, the Community Church, Methodist Chapel and Rhosddu Community Council.

Mr Lucas said: “It was good to hear the Rhosddu Park Fun Day was another big success, with hundreds of local people coming together and having a great time. That’s what this event is all about and I’m very proud of it.

“The day itself was the culmination of several months’ of hard work and involves a lot of teamwork. It was only possible thanks to the efforts of the local community and our local partners – and I’d like to thank them .”
