SC2's outdoor area is to open for the bank holiday weekend.

The splash pad at the Rhyl water park will mark the final phase of construction at SC2.

Tipping buckets, water canons, sprinklers and the paradise slide are some of the features of the new outdoor water area.

Adults can relax in the sun on the outdoor terrace and seating areas, or grab a drink and burger at the Terrace Bar and Snack Shack.

Jamie Groves, head of facilities, assets and housing, said: “This is the last phase of the SC2 construction and we’re thrilled to be on track to open for the coming Bank Holiday. The Splash Pad offers customers to the waterpark an outside, enclosed area for families to play in the water and relax by the pool.

Rhyl Journal:

“The Splash Pad is full of bright, colourful and easily accessible features and will keep the little ones entertained, whilst at the same time, building their water confidence. We are really proud of what we have achieved at SC2 and look forward to bringing this outdoor experience to the people of Rhyl.”

A new range of burgers are being launched in the Rainforest Diner and Terrace Bar within SC2, which is free to use and open to the public at weekends and during holidays.

As a way of appeasing customers who have been put on a waiting list or have been turned away from SC2 during peak times, Denbighshire Leisure has launched a new 'local loyalty offer' - a 50 per cent discount - which can be used outside the peak season during term times.

Those wanting to take advantage of the discount must quote a discount code 'mayweekday50' and show their Denbighshire leisure card at reception.

This offer will run during term time from 4pm to 8pm Wednesdays and Thursdays and 4pm to 9pm on Fridays for the TAG Active arenas and between 4pm to 9pm on Fridays for the waterpark.

SC2 opened in April. The attraction boasts Tag Junior, the first in the UK as well as Tag Active, the first in Wales.

Flumes in the waterpark include the Boomerang, Speedster and Anaconda.

There is also a water wheel and a Piranha Play area for little ones and an outdoor splashpad.

Denbighshire County Council would not give the Journal a number in terms of how many people SC2 holds. The local authority said "it depends on a number of factors."

The Splash Pad, Snack Shack and The Terrace will be weather dependant and open seasonally, access will be included as part of any Waterpark ticket. Book tickets online at www.sc2rhyl.co.uk.
